SENATOR MASSICOTTE MEETS WITH US REPRESENTATIVES AND SENATORS IN WASHINGTON D.C. From 15–17 May 2018, Senator Paul J. Massicotte travelled to Washington D.C. as part of a Canada section of the Canada–United States Inter-Parliamentary Group’s delegation. In this particularly critical time in the Canada–U.S. relationship, Senator Massicotte and his Canadian parliamentarian colleagues had meetings on Capitol Hill with their American Congressional counterparts to discuss important bilateral topics, such as NAFTA negotiations, the impact of legalizations of cannabis in Canada, and security, labor, environment and tax issues. They also had the opportunity to attend an event organized by the Canadian American Business Council and The Hill on “NAFTA & North American Competitiveness: A US-Canada Conversation.”
Symposium on Canada‑Japan Trade and Investment Relations - March 22 2018
As Vice-Chair of the Canada-Japan Inter-parliamentary Association, Senator Massicotte co-hosted this Symposium on Canada-Japan Trade and Investment Relations in Vancouver on March 22, 2018. This event had as main objective to stimulate discussion on the Canada-Japan trade relation, more specifically where trading opportunities can be found and how more can be created. It brought together those who have experienced success in Canada-Japan trade and investment and those who wish to achieve their own.
Trip to Japan March 13-16 2018
As Co-Chair of the Canada-Japan Inter-parliamentary Group, Senator Massicotte went to Japan from March 14-16 2018 to meet officials as well as business and community leaders. The objective of this trip was to gain additional insight into the Canada-Japan relations and to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation.
Welcome Dinner for Japan's New Ambassador to Canada
Here are some photos from the welcome dinner hosted on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 by the Canada-Japan Interparliamentary Association to welcome Japan’s new Ambassador to Canada Kimihiro Ishikane. The Canadian Section of the Canada-Japan Inter-Parliamentary Group (CJIG) promotes exchanges between Japanese and Canadian parliamentarians, proposes initiatives likely to lead to a better mutual understanding of bilateral and multilateral matters and works to develop cooperation between the two countries. A key component of the CJIC activities consists of annual bilateral meetings between Canadian federal parliamentarians and their counterparts from the Diet of Japan.
